Walter for Narungga slams Liberals on Health Care Record

Candidate slams Liberals for letting South Australians die

16 March 2022

“We can’t die waiting for a Liberal Government to take control of our critical health care needs,” Independent Narungga candidate Dianah Walter said today.

“The Liberals are the guilty party in the deaths of South Australians who have died waiting for medical care, while the Labor party must also hold a mirror up.”

Ms Walter, who has been campaigning on a platform which includes getting the State’s health care back on track, said the recent deaths of South Australians, while waiting for an ambulance to arrive, can be laid squarely on a disinterested and disinclined Liberal government to manage our health care crisis.

“It’s a sign of a greater malaise and neglect which has been escalating without any meaningful management or care.

“This is a government which cares more about its own publicity than it cares about the people it serves.”

The reckless way in which the Liberal Party has neglected regional and rural South Australians is now spilling into the State’s suburbs, and is another sign of the lack of interest the Marshall Government has shown in the welfare of everyone living in the State.

“The fatigue and the anguish is real.

“In Narungga, we need more than just one paramedic Ambulance to service the whole of the Yorke Peninsula and we need this now, not in 2025,” Ms Walter said.

“My heart breaks for the lives lost and the trauma endured by our first responders and their loved ones.”

“In Narungga, nothing has changed. The current member has not delivered any significant changes to our local health systems, which is in desperate need of support – so, who is looking after our region?” Ms Walter said.

“When voters go to the polls on Saturday, they need to think outside party lines and look at what’s best for the region in which they live, and think about who will listen to them and who will act.”

“When we are ill, we rely on our Government to ensure we have the best possible outcomes through a network of health care and emergency service providers – and they are not up to the job.”

Regional areas rely on volunteers, not paid ambulance staff, to look after them in an emergency.

The ongoing health crisis is only one critical issue which needs to be addressed by the next South Australian Government.

“So, who will get your vote? It’s a tough call, but there are alternative choices which could make the difference between having a ‘hung’ parliament in this very close election race,” Ms Walter said.

“The combined voices of Independent candidates and groups other than the two major parties will be a driving force for positive change.”

Narungga electors must vote like their lives depend on it because their lives actually do & they matter. A vote for change or more of the same? The choice is simple.
